Somtimes it's hard to hide my true identity during he mission haha!

January 27th, 2014

Hey so im glad to hear dad is doing ok I'll make sure to keep him in my prayers at night. I hope all goes well and hopefully it does help him. I'll keep dad in my prayers! I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE SISTER ASHLEE!!! I can't believe that crazy little girl is turning 7 that is awesome. I can remember the day she was born to be exact, I was doing homework and the aunts were watching us and then we went to Sonic because mom wanted a cherry cream ice or something like that. I was super excited to be having a new little sister come into our family! I am so glad to have her as my little sister!

This week was interesting. We had problems finding people but we went and visited a lot of Less Actives. I'm hoping that as we continue to activate the less actives the work will start to speed up and we will have more people to teach.

We finally found a house that we might change to. It's a lot bigger and closer to the church. The bad thing is that it's somewhat far from our area, but it doesn't take long to arrive to our area.

I am glad to inform you that I have recieved the package. I'll send you a picture. I love it so much. It has all of my favorite treats and snacks. And best of all has got to be the shirt haha.

Well really nothing much happend this past week but I hope all continues to go well at home.

GET WELL DAD LOVE YOU!

Love,
Elder Thorpe

January 20th, 2014

First things first Hola,

Haha I was told it is or was Grandma Gilltettes B-day, So HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA! I have been having quite the week. Our investigators finally returned back from their vacations so that's pretty awesome. It's been a struggle transitioning from 2013 to 2014 but I'm dealing with it. It's just the fact that not very many people were home and if they were home they were out partying. We still have one more major holiday here to complete before Easter, and that is the Day of Kings. Not sure what kind of holiday it is. I think It might have to do with the three wise men finding Christ.

We had a sweet training with a member of the Seventy this last week. He came and talked to us about the importance of having the spirit always. We talked about if we have the spirit all of the time what we are capable of doing. He said If I have the spirit I am capable of doing anything if it's just in the sight of God. We also talked about what it means to hasten the work of salvation. We specifically analyzed the word Hasten or Apresurrar. We talked about how hasten means to move fast or speed up ¨Prisa.¨ It was interesting for him to say that to Hasten the work it means that we also have to walk fast. I think what he was trying to say is that we need to walk with purpose. But all in all it was a good training.

There really hasn't been a whole lot of new. I finally reached the 10 month mark which is crazy. It honestly feels like I just started the mission. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by.

Well I love you all and I appreciate all that you wrote to me,

I'm excited to hear where Austin gets called to! I can't wait!

January 13th, 2014

So this week was interesting. This week we had Stake conference but it was interesting who the speakers were on Sundayand the specific topic of the entire Stake Conference. First of all the topic for the whole Stake Conference was The Work of Salvation. The Stake Presidency did really well Saturday night. I loved the emphasis on just being a friend to everyone and sharing messages through media. Sometimes the members of the church think of missionary work as actually sitting down with someone and talking/teaching, that's not all there is to it. The members can do so much more in teaching the restored gospel, by being a friend and sharing videos of the church or their testimony on Facebook/twitter/Instagram/who knows what else kids use these days. But the most interesting part of this SC was that Elder Christenson of the presidency of the seventy spoke as well as one of the counselors of the YW presidency, and Elder Christoferson, and Elder Hales! That was extremely cool and different.

Well the mission work continues to move on here in Juarez. We have been struggling with finding new investigators but I know they'll come. I'm still with the same comp. which is fine with me he's cool. We are no longer in a trio. I'm getting really excited for the upcoming B-ball game in the mission!

January 6th, 2013

Hola,
So I don't have a ton of time to write this week. And actually that's ok not much happend this last week. We are still in a trio until Tuesday. Then I go back to my freezing cold house. We are teaching some really cool investigators, who are progressing quite a bit. We hope to have them baptized by the end of January.

Not sure if I told you but I was selected from the 2014 Ciudad Juarez Mission Basketball draft to play on the team in Febuary. We are going to play in Juarez and Casas Grandes, which is super cool. Our team mainly consists of Americans but I guess you could expect that. We are going to be playing against the bishops of Juarez.

I got my package from Sarah and was super excited for it. I'm so lucky to have awesome friends who write me like her. Still waiting on the other ones mom told me about.

So everyone here seems to like to call me Thor so it's now become my new nickname, which is all right. I even bought a Thor shirt in Wallmart, haha.

Well theres not too much to say except HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I love you all and hope you have an awesome 2014!
