Happy People

1.       Happy people surround themselves with other happy people. Joy is contagious. People are four times more likely to be happy in the future with happy people around them.
2.       Happy people try to be happy. When happy people don’t feel happy, they cultivate a happy thought and smile about it.
3.       Happy people spend money more on others than they spend on themselves. Givers experience what scientists call the “helper’s high.”
4.       Happy people have deep in-person conversations. Sitting down to talk about what makes a person tick is a good practice for feeling good about life.
5.       Happy people use laughter as a medicine. A good old-fashioned chuckle releases lots of good neurotransmitters. A study showed that children on average laugh 300 times a day versus adults who laugh 15 times a day.
6.       Happy people use the power of music. Researchers found that music can match the anxiety-reducing effects of massage therapy.
7.       Happy people exercise and eat a healthful diet. Eating a poor diet can contribute to depression.
8.       Happy people take the time to unplug and go outside. Uninterrupted screen time brings on depression and anxiety.
9.       Happy people get enough sleep. When people run low on sleep, they are prone to feel a lack of clarity, bad moods, and poor judgment.
10.   Happy people are spiritual.

I thought you would like this!

Hola TODOS!!!
So this week was a sad week. The reason why is because my companion goes home this week. But it was also a super awesome week!!!! This week we had a baptism. His name is Ruben and he was super excited to get baptized. His daughter Rubi got baptized the week before I got to the area. Ruben was super excited and we had tons of spiritual experiences with him and he told us with a strong testimony that he knew that the church was true! His wife Ana is starting to feel the spirit more and is starting to believe that it is all true. She should be getting baptized within a few weeks. We also have about 3 other people planned to be baptized in November. I'm so excited to keep working in the area and help others come unto Christ!!!

So my new companion his name is Elder Alba, he doesn't have a ton of time in the mission he has about 9 months. I'm excited to start working with a new Elder and have success with him as well. Hopefully this week goes well with finding people. I'm probably most nervous about finding the people who we eat with.

I have been learning a lot this week with how I can become a better teacher. So this week I decided to study about ¨Ask Questions¨ I learned a lot about how sometimes we treat people as objects and we ask a question and don't accept an answer untill we get the answer that we are thinking in our mind. But rather than do that we should treat people as Agents and help them to learn for themselves. We should ask an inspired question (Which requires the Holy Ghost) and then let them think and learn by the spirit. I really like that about my studies this week.

Any ways I love you all and pray for you all! READ THE BOOK OF MORMON!

P.S. This week I ate a ton of Tamales but we fried them in butter!!! It was the BEST!!!!

Hey!!!
So this week was a crazy week! We were doing exchanges with all of the district leaders the whole week. So I was hardly with my companion this week. I was working in our area for the majority of the week. But it was good because I got to see how well I know the area.

This week we found a really awesome investigator, his name is David Gutierez. He is a P.E. teacher in a elemetery school here. He was really interested in learning about the church and loves listening to us. We visited him two times last week and he said he wants to get baptized. He went to church on Sunday and then looked at me and I asked, ¨How did you like church.¨ He responded, ¨I loved it, when can you come back to my house to visit me.¨ He is super awesome!

I have been trying to study more the Bible now and the Pearl of Great Price so I can understand them more. I just finished the book of Samuel and it was really interesting. While I was reading in the book of Moses I found a scripture that I really liked and I thought to apply it to me as a new Zone leader. Its in chapter 6

31 And when Enoch had heard these words, he bowed himself tothe earth, before the Lord, and spake before the Lord, saying: Whyis it that have found favor in thy sight, and am bulad, and all the people hate me; for am slow of speech; wherefore am thy servant?
32 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Go forth and do as have commanded thee, and no man shalpierce thee. Open thy mouth,and it shall be filled, and will give thee utterance, for all flesh is in my hands, and I will do as seemeth me good.
Well I love you all and pray for you all! I hope all is ok with whats happening in Texas! Dont get sick!!!
Love,
Elder Thorpe

Hey!

So this week was once again another busy one. We went to Juarez for a ZL training meeting. It was super good and long so we had to stay in a hotel over night. It was good though. We learned a lot about the importance of how to begin teaching and also look for the needs or problems of the people who we teach and answer with the scriptures. I really liked it! They also had us all do military styled exercises. They do that to make sure we are working out in the mornings correctly, and let me tell you it was insane. One things for sure I still don't like to run!

Another thing that we are going to start doing in the mission is we are going to visit all of the youth and teach them the lesson the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are going to do this so that the youth can obtain a testimony of Joseph Smith. President Derbez was super excited about the talk by Anderson and wanted to do something about it.

We should be having our baptism this week and we are super excited for the Sister. They just need to get married. They should be getting all of that done by Thursday at least.

Well I love you all and hope you have a great week.

Hey!!!
So I loved General Conference!!! I learned so much and was so happy that I got to see it live. I got to watch it in the stake center in Dublan. I also got to watch it in English which was awesome because the talks sound so much better when there isn't a translator. When the two 70's spoke in Spanish I went and watched them speak in Spanish.

I really enjoyed the talk by Elder Bednar. I think he is another one of my favorite speakers. I love how he teaches with such clarity and power. I like listening to his talks so I can try and teach like he does. I really liked his example of his two boys when one of them got hurt and the older brother helped the younger and how when the younger brother saw that it was something that made him feel good he desired to share that feeling with others. Obviously I liked Hollands talk and I felt like I should try and be a better desciple of Jesus Christ and help the poor and needy.

Well I am super excited for this week we have our leader meeting with Pres. Derbez. So that should be fun! Then hopefully this Saturday we are going to be having another Baptism. I am so happy with how the area is progressing right now. Before this area didn't ever baptize but now were baptizing a ton of the chosen and elect!

Well Love you all tons!!!
