February 3rd, 2014

Hey what's up Fam,
To be honest I really could have cared less who won the Super Bowl this year they both didn't deserve to be there for many reasons in my opinion. The Broncos proved why in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks are just not a good team and got in for bad calls(also my opinion). The real team that deserves to be there (but not really because of there performance this year) is the "Wall of Steel" The Pittsburgh Steelers! Maybe next year.
Alright in better news our ward had a baptism this Sunday and it was awesome. It was from the other Elders but, really it's just great that the ward continues to grow. At the end of her baptism I felt prompted to read 3 Nephi 11 where Christ appeared before all of the people in the Americas.

9 And it came to pass that he stretched forth his hand and spake unto the people, saying:

10 Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

11 And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

 (3 Nephi 11:9-11)

As I read that part I once again felt the love of my Savior, and Heavenly Father. They truly love each and everyone of us no matter our choices. They are disappointed like any parent or sibling would be but they still love us!

We had an interesting training with President Derbez. He told us that we need to learn to be more humble as missionaries. He actually said that the key to missionary work is humility. I found that interesting. He then went on to explain that if we are humble then we are willing to submit to the will of the Father and in other words we are obedient. It was a cool training. Oh and now we can't spike our hair up any more which stinks but oh well.

Well I love you all and hope you have a great week. Good luck Austin with the mission call!

Love, Elder Thorpe
